Sharow

Lovely little village on the outskirts of Ripon. Fairly busy road running through the village as you head towards Dishforth. The name Sharow derives from the Old English of 'Scearu' and 'Hōh' which translates as boundary hill-spur or a share/division of a sharply projecting piece of land. It is notable for St John's Church and the medieval Sharow Cross, which showed that pilgrims were within a mile of St Wilfrid's Cathedral. Sharow Cross was the first Yorkshire property to be donated to the National Trust, in 1900.

The village has its own primary school as well as a kids play area.
